Birding Day Trip - November 13
Exploring Hungary's Kiskunság Nature Park: A Birding Trip Report – November 13
On November 13, we embarked on a one-day birdwatching tour, visiting Apaj, Bugyi, and Kunpeszér. The weather was rather gloomy and rainy, with occasional light drizzle throughout the day. Despite the challenging conditions, we managed to observe an impressive total of 63 bird species.
The cold weather seemed to have impacted the number of geese present in the area. Unlike the large flocks typically seen at this time of year, we only encountered a few hundred Greater White-fronted Geese. This was noticeably fewer than expected, reflecting the changing dynamics of this season.
Among the highlights of the day were several remarkable sightings:
- Great Bustard
- Pygmy Cormorant
- Long-eared Owl
- Syrian Woodpecker
- Black Woodpecker
- Bearded Reedling
- Hawfinch
The diverse array of species made the day truly memorable despite the less-than-ideal weather. Each stop offered unique opportunities to connect with nature and appreciate the rich birdlife of the region.
